E-commerce technologies get funding

Who said that investment in e-commerce was a thing of the past? The percentage of people who shop online every day continues to grow and this means that companies are having to jump on the "online bandwagon". According to data from the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), there are 27 million internet users in Spain and almost 12 million of them shop online. New venture capital funds for the ICT and real estate sectors

According to TTR's monthly report, capital raised by private equity funds in Spain increased by 101% in August compared to the same month last year. The number of transactions increased to 13, compared to 11 in August 2014. By sector, the most active sectors in August were real estate, with 23 deals; technology, with 11, and the Internet and health, hygiene and aesthetics sectors, both with 5 deals.

2014 has been a very important year for M&A in Spain, with operations reaching an investment of €79,500M, a figure not reached since 2007, and large operations by corporations, which had been years without buying to restructure their balance sheet. Although there is still a long way to go, it seems that 2015 will be the year of the consolidation of M&A in Spain, and will have these trends as protagonists.
