Zencap merges with Funding Circle to become the world's first global crowdfunding platform
Zencap, German crowdlending platform that had a presence in the Netherlands arrived in Spain in 2014 and has grown strongly in the last 18 months, financing more than 520 businesses to the value of €35M.
Funding Circle in the last five years has provided funding to more than 12,000 businesses worth $$1,500 in the UK and the US.
"The merger results in Zencap's experience in the European markets with Funding Circle's strong track record and technology," says Diego Gutierrez of Abra-Invest.
With the merger, Funding Circle enters continental Europe, a region with more than €1 trillion in loans to 22 million SMEs, according to the European Commission. Funding Circle claims that the market opportunity is larger than the UK and the US combined.
Victory Park Capital, which recently signed an agreement with Zencap to fund $230M in loans, was already present in Funding Circle. The US fund thus becomes the first global investor in crowdlending loans.
