We analyse technology investments in the agricultural sector from a corporate finance point of view. Murcia Emprende invests in the capital of the company Nuevas Tecnologías Agroalimentarias, specifically in its main commercial brand, Keepcool, a producer of ethylene filters.

Keepcool and product preservation

Keepcool is a company founded in 2015 based in Murcia with its own patented product. It serves to delay the ripening and senescence (ageing) of fruit, vegetables and flowers during transport and storage. In other words, they are filters for the elimination of ethylene that serve as an effective solution for the preservation of food products. Keepcool has also developed coolers and spermicides as an effective alternative for refrigerated storage and transport.

Due to the usefulness of the products developed by the company, they have managed to capture a large market both nationally and internationally, especially during the last year 2017.

Analysis of the operation

Keepcool has been able to develop a new and innovative product, which is very useful when transporting different agricultural products. With this product, the agricultural sector would benefit a lot, gaining importance and prestige once again.

It is for this reason that last May 18, 2018 took place the signing of the agreement where the venture capital Murcia Emprende invested in capital in New Agrifood Technologies, within the company it did so in Keepcool. This agreement was carried out to strengthen the Murcian industry and in this way the injection of capital will consolidate the company in its current markets and allow the development of new lines of research and international expansion, achieving that in the future the product is consolidated both in the current market and in possible new future markets.
