Axis, the venture capital company of the ICO Group, has resolved the sixth call of FOND-ICO Global with the selection of four funds, in which it will invest €71M. These funds will invest around €280 million in Spain, which is almost 4 times the amount that FOND-ICO Global will invest. Given the great reception of this call, a new call is expected to be launched before the summer. According to the planned investment plan, new fund selection calls will continue to be launched depending on the market situation.
Funds selected in the 6th Fondico call for proposals
4 funds, out of the 19 submitted, have been selected in the 6th Fondico call. In the Expansion Capital category, the funds selected were Italian, Charme capital partners and a Spaniard Meridia capital partners.
"Of the 19 funds presented to the call, six are international, which shows the confidence that foreign investors are placing in our country.
As for Charme Capital, the vehicle to be financed by the ICO will be its third private equity fund, which was launched last year. This investment vehicle will target medium-sized companies (between 100 and 500 M) in Europe, with a focus on the UK, Spain and Italy in particular.
Meridia capital partners, which had traditionally focused on real estate investment, decided a few months ago to enter private equity and has already raised 80% of its total target resources, €125M, and is ready to start buyouts.
In the Venture Capital category, two firms established in the last year have been chosen: Kanoar Ventures and Samaipata capital partners.
Kanoar Ventures is chaired by Carina Szpilka, former CEO of ING Direct.
Samaipata capital partners, a €20M investment fund, blends the world of e-commerce and internet investments with M&A transactions.
FOND-ICO Global boosts the Venture Capital sector in Spain
FOND-ICO Global over the six calls made since its launch, has approved an investment of €947M in 39 funds. For their part, these funds in which FOND-ICO Global participates have committed to invest a minimum of €3,445M in Spanish companies. In this way, FOND-ICO Global achieves a significant leverage effect, as well as supporting the competitiveness of companies and job creation.
The funds selected by FOND-ICO Global have already invested in 170 companies across a wide range of sectors: consumer goods and distribution, services, life sciences, industry, among others.
