Spanish SMEs accelerate their internationalisation with investment from COFIDES
As we enter 2014, a number of new operations have been announced for investments Spanish companies abroad, thanks to the funding from COFIDES. There have been a total of 6 operations for both SMEs and large companies located in South Africa, Germany and Latin America.

Cofides has signed a partnership agreement with CAF-Bank The two institutions will cooperate in providing joint support to improve the chances of success of investment projects promoted by the beneficiary companies of both entities, with special attention to those promoted by small and medium-sized enterprises. In turn, they will promote and disseminate the financial support offered by both institutions.

The most relevant SME operations

"The purpose of the investment can be very diverse, from opening commercial offices, building distribution centres to the purchase of machinery. COFIDES' flexibility is worth mentioning, as it does not hesitate in the size of operations, from €100K for Kauman to €38M for Elecnor" says Diego Gutierrez of Abra Invest.

Cofides will fund 616k to Phibo Worldwide S.L.Phibo Germany for the establishment of a commercial subsidiary in Germany, Phibo Germany for a investment total of €1.2M. The Phibo Group is a Catalan company, Spanish leader in dental implants, CAD-CAM prostheses and complementary elements.

Cofides will finance €918K to Salesland S.L. for the construction and management of eleven telephony distribution centres in Peru for a total investment of €1.3M.Salesland, S.L. is a company created in 2000 dedicated to the implementation of promotional and sales campaigns on behalf of third parties, offering a global commercial service, managing the outsourcing of its processes and sales teams through two main lines of business, face-to-face and remote sales. Salesland's international experience began in 2004 with the opening of its Portuguese subsidiary.

Cofides will finance €100k to Kauman S.A. for the acquisition of a rubber products manufacturing machine at its subsidiary in Uruguay for a investment total of €143K. Kauman S.A. is a Galician SME with more than 30 years of experience in the manufacture of rubber products. In fact, it is a national leader in the textile belts sector. Its first experience in the South American market dates back to the 90's and in 2004 it founded its subsidiary Citrans S.A. to improve service to its customers in South America. With two manufacturing plants and a sales office in Shanghai, the Kauman Group exports 80% of its production.

Cofides will finance €500k to Powernet, S.L. for the constitution of two commercial establishments in Colombia and Peru, due to the demand of its clients established in Latin America. The total investment amounts to €1M.Powernet, S.L.founded in Madrid in 1989, is a company dedicated to engineering services whose main areas of activity are engineering services in the area of telecommunications, data processing, structured cabling networks, electrical projects, data communication, network security, virtualisation and data storage.
