In the last year we have seen several rounds of investment in Spanish companies that use mobile in their business model. All the companies detected are young companies, founded since 2011. Some of these companies, such as Cabify, have received a large amount of funding.

It seems that the use of mobile is in fashion, and investors are betting on it in different verticals, from collaborative economy applications such as Cabify, Marketing tools to optimise new media such as Marfeel, to health monitoring applications such as SocialDiabetes.
Rounds to accelerate their presence in the international market.
Among the reasons why these startups are seeking investor support is the need to grow in order to open up new geographic markets and become competitive.
Cabify for example, the Spanish chauffeur-driven car rental app, closed a $120M round in February to open up a foothold in Latin America and Europe. The round was led by Rakuten, a Japanese e-commerce platform that already has a presence in Spain and Latin America.
Marfeel, also closed a €3M round in 2015, with the same objective: to expand its presence in the US and open an office in New York. On this occasion the investors were Spanish and foreign: Nauta Capital, Elaia Partners and BDMI.
Upplicationwhich develops technology that allows anyone to easily create their own mobile app, also received a €1M round in order to grow from internalisation.
Geenapp is a technological platform that brings together all App advertising campaigns to offer an intelligent promotion system. Thanks to the incorporation of this system, both on the web and on social networks, it allows other apps to be promoted and monetised, since for each installation generated, even if the app is free, income is obtained. This company received its second round of investment in 2015 for €500,000 in order to grow in the international market. The investors included Kima Ventures and Caixa Capital Risc.
