IaaS is a framework that allows companies to use web-based operating systems and applications without having to develop and/or acquire their own cloud infrastructure. The IaaS is an innovative sector closely dependent on technological development.
IaaS: INNOVATIVE SECTOR WITH HIGH RISK
Since 2010, 362 companies dedicated to IaaS have been created, of which only 299 are still active today. This fact reflects, on the one hand, the young age of the sector, as it could be said that 100% of the companies existing today have been created in the last 9 years. On the other hand, it also shows the high risk of new companies starting their activity in this sector, as they have a high probability of default.
In total, USD 3.62 trillion has been invested in the IaaS sector globally and today, the leading companies in the sector are the US companies Cisco186 billion, Rackspace and Flexera.
INVESTMENT ANALYSIS
Most of the fundraising rounds launched have been at seed or seed stage. Seed171 rounds exactly. A further 93 rounds were made in the early stages, or Early Stages of start-ups.
There has also been significant investment in the IaaS market in the past year, although as an emerging sector, investment rounds have not been as capital intensive as in other markets.
