From the last SME instrument phase 1 call, with cut-off date November 2015, 185 companies have been selected out of the 2057 proposals submitted. The projects come from 22 different countries, Spain with a participation of 22%, which means 39 projects, is the country where more projects have been selected. These companies will receive €50,000 in funding.
Objective of the call
The objective of the call is to finance feasibility studies for new products in order to ensure a high market impact. In addition, companies can also apply for up to three days of free business coaching, for which companies receive funding of €500,000.
What have been the most successful themes?
The themes with the highest number of funded products relate to low-carbon energy systems, food production and processing, and biomarkers or medical devices in general.
Good track record of Spanish SMEs
Spain is the country with the most successful projects in this call, with 39 projects selected, followed by Italy with 37 and Great Britain with 20.
Since 2014, when these grants were launched, 1,284 SMEs have been selected, of which 294 are Spanish. In addition, a total of 51 Spanish companies have been selected for phase 2 since the programme was launched.
