In which sectors does crowdfunding invest?
Crowdfunding has grown a lot in recent years, according to a study by the agency Massolution, in 2012 this type of funding grew by 81% compared to the previous year, raising a total of $2,700M worldwide and in 2013 the figure doubled to more than $5,000M.

Despite the controversies of the draft bill that have arisen recently, we believe that it is necessary for this industry to be regulated, in order to offer a better service to investors and companies seeking both equity and debt financing. As we saw in the post "Spain crowdfunding: draft bill boosts crowdfunding activity"Regulation is making Spanish crowdfunding platforms grow.

Advantages of crowfunding

Among the advantages of crowdfunding for the entrepreneur is the possibility of obtaining financing while maintaining control of the company. For the investor, it means having the possibility of participating in different business projects by becoming a partner in different companies without having to contribute large amounts of money, thus diversifying the risk, and also having the possibility of having up-to-date information on the different projects that are the object of their investment.

Sectors in which most crowdfunding operations are carried out

Crowdfunding operations occur in companies dedicated to different sectors of activity, from software companies to companies in the bio-health sector. Analysing the operations carried out from 2011 onwards, according to CrunchbaseWe see the "music sector" as one of the most popular. For example, companies such as Pono Music, which sells music players, has closed several rounds of crowdfunding, most recently raising $6M, to bring its high-quality music player to market.

Crowdequity platforms in Spain

In Spain there are numerous crowdequity platforms that move around €30M per year. Among the most popular platforms currently in operation are  launch us and Verkami.
Lánzanos is one of the first crowdfunding platforms to emerge in Spain. A project supported by the startup Taunology (located in Toledo) that has been working with entrepreneurs to help them find funding since 2010 and offers them an open platform to present their projects.

Verkami is another crowdfunding platform focused on a very specific area: creative projects. This platform aims to facilitate the financing of audiovisual artists, video game developers, writers, painters, photographers or musicians so that they can carry out their creative projects thanks to the funding of users interested in their work.
