Spanish Venture Capital invests in Games Tics

Over the last few years we have seen investments from the venture capital Spanish in the internet and mobile games sector. The old model of developing to be bought by the big "Publisher" has passed away, let's look at the new models.

The most active investors: three incubators

During 2012, investors most active in the internet gaming sector have been three incubators - accelerators and with extensive experience in the internet gaming arena.

First, we have Mola.com in 2012 made 3 investments in the gaming sector: the geo-localised gaming platform originating in Poland PlaceChallenge the entertainment platform where users participate in all kinds of competitions and challenges to be the leaders of the community.  Blaffin and the sports betting comparator PriceBets . Precisely this second investment has been shared with the Goup ITnet, the second most active investor who, in addition to this stake, has also taken a stake in the capital of Tusjuegos.com a digital download platform for PC video games. The round raised €420k and involved investors such as Venturcap SCR, Korner Entertainment and Lunar Investments.

The third inverter has been the Valencian incubator Business Booster that in its first round of investments entered into Hooptapwhich in its first year of life raised over €500k in funding and grew by over 300% in the last three months and attracted prestigious brands such as Sony, 100 Montaditos, Belros, Amstel, Virgin ActiveCity of Arts and Sciences and Maui Jim.

Games aimed at brand promotion

It seems reasonable the success of the projects and startups that offer Gamification platforms to brands because it is, nowadays, the most fun way to do online marketing to achieve, among other things, to improve engagement with users, so that the brand is always, in one way or another, in the minds of users, thus increasing the possibility of "return" to buy products of the Gamified brand.

"It seems that the model of developing games for later purchase by one of the big publishers is coming to an end. Experience has shown that a good catalogue of games has to be generated to attract these players. investorsEven so, the challenge is complicated. As a result, other business developments such as gamification are being pursued for brands like Hooptap and Blaffin or towards downloading video games on PCs such as yourgames.com or online sports betting such as price bets.com"Diego Gutierrez, an expert in corporate finance, analyses in Abra Invest.
