Cerberus buys four renewable energy assets from Sinia renovables, Esif and Comsa emte.
According to a global report by PwC, renewables already account for 28% of all electricity generation. M&A transactions and acquisitions The energy sector, reaching a value of $55.300M. The renewables market is expected to remain active in 2016, and just this week we have learned of the purchase of four renewable energy assets by Cerberus.

Cerberusthe American venture capital firm that last year already bought theor Renovalia in our country, wants to continue increasing its weight in the Spanish energy sector and is now buying 4 assets from Sinia renovables, Esif and Comsa Emte. The asset management and technical management of the wind farms will be carried out by Renovalia and Exus.

In addition to Renovalia, Cerberus also made another acquisition last year from Civis Corporación. Specifically, two wind farms with a capacity of 70 megawatts.

Cerberus, created in 1992, is one of the most active international funds in Spain and one of the leading global investors, with more than $25,000M under management. A few months ago, the New York-based private equity firm bought the 90% of Gescobro and the 96% of Sotogrande.

Major Renewables operations in 2015

2015 was a particularly active year for renewables transactions in Spain, both by private equity and corporations. In addition to Cerberus' purchase of Renovalia,  Magnum Capital was made with Iberwind 1.000M

Gas Natural Fenosa closed the purchase of the 100% from the Castilian-Leonese renewable energy firm Gecalsawhich operates ten wind farms and one photovoltaic plant in Spain with a net installed capacity of 221 MW.

These major operations in the renewables sector come on top of the one announced in July 2015 by KKRThe acquisition of Gestamp Solar's 80% for USD 1,000 million (EUR 925 million). In addition, the Oaktree fund closed the purchase of Eolia Renovables.

In addition to these Renewables deals, Iberdrola also carried out one of the largest deals in the energy sector, buying UIL for €4.4 billion.
