ByHours: hotel booking platform

ByHours is a company dedicated to the management of hotel bookings by the hour for short stays, based in Barcelona.

Recently, it has managed to sell part of its shareholding for €8m.

The company will take advantage of this operation to enter the US.

WHO IS BYHOURS?

Byhours is a Spanish platform that allows you to book a hotel room for a short stay of between three and twelve hours..

Founded in 2012 in Barcelona, it has some 250,000 users and a database of 3,000 hotels in 600 international destinations in 20 countries.

It gives flexibility to a sector that until now has been very limited to its traditional rules and also generates additional income for hotels.

As a result, and according to its managers, the company has sold more than one million hours of hotel stays and generated 20 million euros for the tourism industry.

INTERNATIONAL MARKET

In 2019, the Barcelona-based startup opened its first international office in Mexico, where it has fourteen employees.

As a result, already more than half of its sales come from the international market, namely the 52%.

Its objectives for the current 2020 are clear:

  • Continuing to grow in our current markets
  • Starting operations in the United States

FUTURE PROSPECTS

In this way, Byhours will be able to develop a marketplace for companies and improve its connectivity with other players in the tourism sector.

The startup also aims to double its revenues and add more than 2,000 hotels to its platform.

It also wants to increase the share of international revenues in its income statement, so that they account for 75 % of the company's turnover.

IMPROVEMENT AND START OF NEW OPERATIONS

In order to realise these plans, it sold part of its shareholding at the end of January.

It did so in a investment round de 8M€to improve its business and start operations in the United States.

Among the investors who have made the sale Mexican venture capital funds are Angel Ventures and DILA Capital.

The British fund has also been a participant Howzat Partnerswhich had previously invested in Byhours.
