About Badi

Badi is a Spanish startup in the Proptech sector that has developed a platform in app and web format that allows users to find the perfect flatmate.

Founded by the young entrepreneur Carlos Pierre, Badi took its first steps in 2015. At the time it was dubbed "the Tinder of flatmates", as its users include both those who want to rent a room in their flat and candidates for it. Shortly after its debut, the startup raised €300,000, in 2016 it raised €1M and in 2017 another €3M.

Badi was born when it detected a gap in the Proptech sector of rising prices in the rental sector and the lack of a 'player' aimed not at tourist rentals, but at traditional rentals. It is mainly aimed at young people, and especially takes advantage of the trend that millennials want to live close to their jobs but do not have the financial capacity to buy properties.

Badi is currently active for users in Spain and Italy, covering mainly large cities. Since its founding in 2015, the platform has generated 10 million rental requests in Spain, and has 36 employees on staff, which they hope to increase.

Badi closes €8.1M investment round

Badi, the proptech startup that allows users to find the perfect flatmate, has just closed its first Series A investment round, raising €8.1M.

The round was led by US fund Spark Capital, which has previously financed companies such as Twitter, Tumblr and Foursquare. Mangrove Capital Partners, founded and led by the CEO of Wix.com, and local investors such as Didac Lee and Marc Ingla, already present in the company's capital, have also participated in this round.

"We will use these funds to sign the best talent and expand across Europe as we prepare our Series B," explains Carlos Pierre, founder and CEO of Badi. The startup aims to open in four more major European cities over the next six months: London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris. The company will also soon incorporate a payment platform within the service to manage payments between landlords and tenants.
