From a corporate finance perspective, we look at investments in the aerospace sector. In this case, we analyse the new €9m follow-on round for PLD and the acquisition of the Tryo Group by the Spanish company Sener.
PLD completes its €17m round with a new €9m round.
On 19 June 2018, the technology company PLD Space closed a new financing round worth €9M. The round is composed of €7.1M from private investment and €1.9M from public investment. With this round, it completes its Series A round of €17M. This first round took place in January 2017, and thanks to it, PLD Space grew and increased its staff from 6 to 40 employees, i.e. the same as today, and also allowed it to carry out the engineering development for the ARION 1 space rocket. Among the new investors, the Spanish aeronautical company Alciturri and the investment fund JME (José Manuel Entrecanales) are worth mentioning. PLD Space is a Spanish company founded in 2011 that develops reusable space rockets, and is currently developing two rockets: the ARION 1 and ARION 2.

Sener is a Spanish engineering and technology company that is active in engineering, but also in construction and systems integration. It acquired the Spanish Grupo Tryo from Alantra Partners and other private minority investors. The amount of the transaction is not known. On the other hand, Grupo Tryo, the acquired company, based in Bilbao, is a company dedicated to the design and manufacture of electronic systems and components.
