CEMEX Ventures invests in Saalg Geomechanics
21 FEB 2018 CEMEX Ventures, a Spanish venture capital firm and subsidiary of Mexico's Cemex, has invested in Spain's Saalg Geomechanics. The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed.
Saalg Geomechanics, based in Castelldefels, Barcelona, is an engineering startup that has developed a software called Daarwin to analyse in real time the behaviour of the ground in civil works and large buildings.
CEMEX Ventures' investment will enable the launch of a first commercial version of the software.
Cabify closes $160M round
22 JAN 2018 Maxi Mobility Holdings, the US holding company of Spain's Cabify, has closed a $160M funding round underwritten by Rakuten Capital (Japan), TheVentureCity (US), Endeavor Catalyst (US), Grupo Atento Inversiones (Spain), Liil Ventures (Mexico), WTI - Western Technology Investment (US), and several investors from Spain and Latin America.
Cabify, based in Madrid, is a company in charge of the management and development of an application for mobile phones and computers that allows the hiring of high-end vehicles with a professional driver. The company also has an extensive presence in Latin America, with subsidiaries in Chile, Mexico and Peru.
The financing round aims to boost the company's technological development.
Ipsum Technology receives $1M
10 JAN 2018 Ipsum Technology has closed a $1M financing round in which venture capital firms CEMEX Ventures (Spain) and Manutara Ventures (Chile) participated. Through the capital injection, the investors have obtained a stake in the company.
Ipsum Technology, based in Mexico City, is dedicated to the development of a platform to improve the management of engineering and construction projects.
Ezentis acquires Grupo CYS, ICA and Comunicaciones y Sonido Mexico
02 JAN 2018 Ezentis, the Spanish telecommunications infrastructure installation and management company, has completed the acquisition of Grupo CYS, ICA and Comunicaciones y Sonido Mexico.
Grupo CYS (Comunicaciones y Sonido) is a Spanish company dedicated to the implementation of communications infrastructures at an international level. The Peruvian ICA specialises in the development of telecommunications infrastructures. Comunicaciones y Sonido México is the Mexican subsidiary of Grupo CYS.
The operation is part of a larger transaction, the first phase of which was the acquisition of ICP, Gts Thaumat XXI and CYS.
Bipi closes a €2.5M round
27 SEP 2017 Llollo Mobility, a Spanish company operating under the Bipi brand, has closed a €2.5M funding round led by Kibo Ventures (Spain), with the participation of Stella Maris Partners (Mexico), B4Motion (Spain) and other unidentified investors.
Bipi, based in Madrid, is a company dedicated to the development of a mobility application for travellers in Spain, created as a spin-off of the Spanish company Llollo.

ComparaGuru captures $7M in one round
21 JUN 2017 Mexican startup ComparaGuru has completed a $7M funding round led by US-based QED Investors, with the participation of Seaya Ventures (Spain), Nova Founders (Hong Kong), Struck Capital (USA) and private investor Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal.
ComparaGuru, based in Mexico City, is a company dedicated to the management of a portal for comparing insurance and bank loans.
The resources received from the financing round will be used to grow the company and strengthen its technological equipment.
Yogome closes a $6.6M round
01 JUN 2017 Yogome, a Mexico City-based startup, has closed a $6.6M financing round led by Spain's Seaya Ventures, with $6M, and in which Mexico's VARIV Capital and US-based Endeavor Catalyst also participated.
Yogome is a company operating in the technology sector, dedicated to the development of educational video games. The company will use the investment to reach one million subscribers and expand its business to China, Korea and Japan.
CornerJob hosts $19M
22 MAY 2017 Job Digital Networks, creator of the CornerJob app, has closed a $19M funding round, which was led by international and Spanish funds and media.
Specifically, the financing round involved Northzone (Sweden), Randstad Innovation Fund, e.ventures (USA), Samaipata Ventures (Spain), Caixa Capital Risc (Spain), Mediaset España, Mediaset Group (Spain), TF1 (France), Media Digital Ventures Spain, Augesco Ventures (France), 5M Ventures (France), and TV Azteca (Mexico).
CornerJob is a mobile application that acts as a tool for job search in a quick and easy way, focusing mainly on the offer of jobs that do not require excessive qualifications and with a high turnover, such as waiters, shop assistants, etc.
Mexico Ventures I invests in Parkiller
18 MAY 2017 Mexico Ventures I, a Mexican venture capital firm, has made an undisclosed investment in the Spanish company Parkiller, through which it has become a shareholder.
Parkiller, based in Madrid, is an app specialised in offering corporate parking solutions and car services, operating in Mexico.
Mexico Ventures I is a venture capital fund that emerged as a joint venture between Sun Mountain Capital and Fondo de Fondos.
Axon Partners Group invests in Simpati Mobile
12 JAN 2017 Axon Partners Group, a Spanish venture capital firm, has made an investment in the startup Simpati Mobile for an undisclosed amount. Through this capital contribution, Axon Partners has obtained a stake in the company's shareholding.
Simpati Mobile is a Mexican mobile operator founded in 2016.
