About Movildata
Movildata International is a Spanish company specialising in M2M and mobility applications for the location and management of industrial and light vehicles and people.
Headquartered in Murcia, it has branches in Seville, Granada, Madrid and Valencia, as well as a wide network of distributors and authorised installation workshops throughout Spain.
Its solutions are used for GPS tracking, route control and optimisation, online tachograph time management, tachograph downloading, consumption reduction and safety of the fleet, the goods and the driver. All these solutions save costs, time and kilometres and increase the productivity of its customers. Among these customers, it has references in the transport sector such as Disfrimur, Grupo Fuentes and Campillo Palmera.
Verizon Telematics acquires Movildata International
Verizon Communications Inc. has carried out the takeover of the Spanish company Movildata International, which specialises in the development of fleet management solutions. With this transaction, the financial terms of which have not been disclosed, the US company expands its services and extends its presence in Southern Europe.
Verizon Telematics, the telematics division of US-based Verizon Communications, has a strong presence in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Poland. According to Andres Irlando, CEO of Verizon Telematics, "Movildata is a great fit and shares a high level of synergy with our European business. This strategic acquisition strengthens Verizon Telematics' market position, accelerates growth and allows us to expand the presence of our market-leading solutions and services".
In addition, Movildata's more than 60 employees will join the Verizon team after the transaction.
According to Berg Insight, a leading analyst of the Fleet Management solutions market, Spain represents the second largest market for this sector in Western Europe.with more than five million commercial vehicles. Moreover, this market is significantly undervalued compared to other major European markets and therefore presents clear opportunities for growth.
