Operations in the artificial language processing sector
Adapx is one of the first companies dedicated to this sector. Founded in 1999, this company, which is dedicated to obtaining information through voice, has received 5 financing rounds. The last of these was in April 2013, in which the firm was awarded $3M from OVP Venture Partners Paladin Capital Group Pelion Venture Partners and Northwest Technology Ventures.
The big technology companies do not want to lag behind either and invest in natural language, as in the case of Yahoowhich in February 2013 bought SkyPhrasea startup specialising in the development of algorithms for natural language processing.
Operations in Spain
Numerous start-ups in this field are also appearing in Spain and are being very well received by investors.
Earlier this week, Inbenta, which specialises in natural language processing technology, closed its first $$2M funding round led by InverSur Capital.
"Inbenta was founded in 2005, but in 2012 a grant from the CDTI was the key to perfecting its technology and making the leap to other countries: France, Brazil and the United States (Silicon Valley)," says Diego Gutiérrez, an expert in alternative finance in the group. Abra Invest.
Another startup that has received funding from business angels is Sherpa Beta 3.0a mobile application founded by Xabier Uribe-Etxebarria, which works as a personal assistant and will tell you everything you need quickly and easily.
On the other hand, the Spanish Indysis was acquired by Intel in 2013 for approximately €20m. Indisys was founded in Seville in 2005 and is dedicated to developing intelligent agents that enable conversations across multiple languages, devices and platforms.
