Some e-health companies that have received investment in March 2017

In this month of March, we have detected several young companies, less than 4 years old, which have already gained the support of investors.

Virta gets €37M - alternative treatment for diabetes.

Virta is a Sillicom Valley company, founded in 2014, which has just received its first round, and has done so for an amount of $37M. Virta is a platform for monitoring the carbohydrates we eat. It is intended for people who suffer from type II diabetes and have to constantly monitor their blood sugar with the prick of a needle and diabetic pills.

The company has raised €37M from VCs Venrock, Allen & Company, Obvious Ventures, Redmile Group and PayPal and Affirm. The goal of the round is to study new treatment options for diabetes II that could reverse the disorder.

In Spain there are also several companies that have developed solutions for the treatment of diabetes that have received investment. Catalan biopharmaceutical company Genmedica Therapeutics received a €1M round in 2014 for the development of a drug for the treatment of diabetes II and Social Diabetes has raised two smaller seed rounds.

CellAegis receives a round of $9M

CellAegis Devices (Toronto, Canada) has patented and developed a non-invasive, self-invasive device that provides Remote Ischaemic Isolation Therapy (RIC) to patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular disease.

The company has just closed a $$9.5M round to support a clinical trial in the US. The autoRIC device is approved in Canada and Europe, where it is being used in multiple large investigator-sponsored trials to evaluate its efficacy in reducing clinical events after a heart attack.
