SDOS, a company specialising in software development, particularly mobile applications, is laying the foundations for international growth. After several years of growth, the company has decided to organise itself by creating a holding company and has bought the company Metadology, a specialist in big data. These two actions will allow the company to consolidate its position in Spain and to gain strength to enter the international market.
SDOS corporate finance analysis
SDOS is a Sevillian group founded in 2008 by Tomás García-Figueras and Rafael Selma. Specialised in software development, its main activity is mobile applications, both for large companies (such as Inditex, Restalia, Dia or Media Markt) and for public administrations. Sdos has grown at a double-digit rate in recent years. Currently, SDOS is based in Seville, Madrid, Barcelona and Zaragoza and has 285 employees.
In 2017 SDOS has created a holding company , which will enable it to consolidate its position in Spain and, from 2019, to take a decisive leap abroad. The group's parent company is the SDOS Technology Group, which is responsible for "managing the company's growth strategy, obtaining resources and unifying management and administration". The rest of the business lines, such as Solution Oriented Development Services (SDOS), which is currently the company's main activity, stem from this trunk. Another of the firms integrated in the holding is APPS Mobile (whose commercial brand is Smobile), specialised in the distribution of Vodafone products, with 25 establishments open.
The SDOS group plans to grow by around 35% this year and its business will be around €10M.
On the purchase of Metadology
Metadology is a company, also from Seville, specialising in Big Data technology.
Being able to provide Big Data services to SDOS customers is a differential bet of high added value. According to Rafael Selma, SDOS executive "the company could have developed its own Big Data products on its own, but it would have taken two years to acquire the necessary experience, so it has opted to rely on partners who already have a very mature service."
It seems that the company is open to new acquisitions "We have our capabilities and we can develop them, but if we find the right partner we have already designed the structure in which we can integrate them.
