Who are the most active CVCs and what do they invest in?
According to Pitchburg, since 2010 corporate ventures have invested more than $125B. Moreover, it is worth noting that since 2012 investment has been growing considerably, reaching $36.7B in 2015. Among the sectors that have received the most investment from these funds are technology startups (42%), B2B (21.2%) and healthcare (20.2%).

Sector Funding IT Sector

Intel

Intel has invested in 354 different companies since 2010, participating in 478 transactions.

So far this year it has invested in 13 companies, several of them in the software and big data sectors, although it has also invested in other sectors such as security and robotics.

Intel Capital is also the most active investor in IoT since 2011 to date. In the first quarter of 2016 it participated in an investment round in Stratoscale, a cloud computing startup focused on IoT applications.

GV- Google Fund

Since its foundation in 2009, Google Ventures has had one of the most active investment portfolios on record, offering not only investment, but also marketing and image support and in many cases revalidating its funding in companies in which it already had some capital.

The biotechnology sector is one of the most popular sectors for capital infusion. This year we have seen capital injected into companies such as Armo Bioscience and Rani Therapheutics.

GV is increasingly shying away from seed capital, due to the strong competition at this stage of investment, and wants to target entities with a much larger background, already consolidated and experienced client portfolios, such as in the case of Uber.

They seek, therefore, to invest in a select group of companies with an international vocation, massive growth forecasts and clear intentions to be listed on the stock markets; which means more dividends for the investor.
