Lingokids, a Spanish startup that develops language teaching services for children aged 2 to 6, has closed a new $4 million financing round led by investment funds Holtzbrinck Ventures and JME Venture Capital.
About Lingokids
Lingokids is a Spanish platform for teaching languages to children from 2 to 6 years old. It currently has a window of workers in Spain, 2 in the USA and 1 in Ukraine. In the medium term, the app aims to add Chinese and Spanish to the collection of languages that can be learned remotely.
Lingokids, is experiencing exponential growth since 2016, especially after launching the Netflix-style content recommendation system and the Lingokids Live service that offers live online lessons with native educators. In addition, Lingokids has announced a partnership with Oxford, whereby users have access to all content of the publishing house from the 'app'.
They went through the well-known American accelerator, 500 Startups, for six months, and from there, they obtained $1M in funding.
On the round received
This latest investment round, of $4M, was led by the investment funds Holtzbrinck Ventures and JME Venture Capitaland one of the largest investment funds in Silicon Valley, Bessemer Ventures Partners.
This is the first time that Holtzbrink and Bessemer have invested in Spain and they are doing so in order for Lingokids to continue its growth. The case of Bessemer, one of the longest-standing funds in the United States, which has invested in LinkedIn, Skype and Pinterest, is particularly relevant.
This new round of funding will allow us to expand our portfolio of offerings, grow in new regions and reach our goal: 15 million families enjoying our services by the end of 2018," announced Lingokids CEO Cristóbal Viedama.
