The main Internet of Things rounds of 2017. Altair buys Carriots' 100%.
We take a look back at the most important funding rounds in the IoT sector in 2017. In addition, Altair acquires Spain's Carriots 100% from Suez and the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology).

About Carriots

For example, the CarriotsCityLife project enables smarter monitoring of all services in a city. In addition, in the industrial sector, the Carriots IoT platform enables the efficient and scalable management of large amounts of information in real time, for a wide variety of applications.

Carriots offers users the freedom to design their infrastructure, develop their applications and integrate them with third parties. In addition, it offers rapid deployment and scalability for a wide range of industries, such as energy, agriculture, FMCG and logistics.

Since Suez and the CDTI became shareholders of Carriots in 2015, the company has experienced strong growth, doubled its sales and staff, expanded its network of partners and boosted its R&D&I. This has enabled Carriots to become one of the few independent leaders in the development of horizontal IoT software platforms.

Altair acquires Carriots

The French company Suez and the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology), a body under the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, have sold 100% of their stake in Carriots to the US company Altair.

Altair is a company dedicated to developing enterprise software for developing innovation, shortening lead times and reducing costs throughout the product lifecycle. With the acquisition, Altair seeks to combine its applications with Carriots' IoT solutions and use this technology to create, simulate and connect products throughout their lifecycle.

This investment has been made through Venture Opportunities (Vento), a public-private investment instrument arising from an agreement between Suez and CDTI from the Innvierte programme.

Venture Opportunities invests between €0.5M and €5M in the start-up or expansion phases of innovative companies in areas related to the water cycle, the environment, energy and smart cities. In addition to Carriots, Vento has supported companies such as Seinon, which specialises in energy efficiency, and Hydromodel, which offers a service for managing and predicting the status of aquifers through mathematical models hosted in the cloud.
