The Government of Navarra has approved a multiannual allocation of €26.7M for R&D projects of companies, strategic projects, Manunet II and industrial doctorates. These grants will be paid out of the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 budget years.
Company R&D projects
It aims to promote innovation in companies, incorporating new technologies to improve their competitiveness. Specifically, the aim is to encourage collaboration between companies and the contracting of knowledge-generating entities. The recipients of this aid are companies that have a work centre in Navarre and that carry out R&D activities in this centre. These grants will have a budget of €12M.
Strategic projects
They also have a budget of €12M, and their objective is to promote the implementation of strategic projects with a high impact, in strategic sectors for Navarre. These are innovative projects of greater temporal and economic scope than the projects of the previous call.
These projects must have a duration of 3 years and consortia of different types of companies will be required and minimum percentages of participation by technology centres and public research bodies in Navarre will be established.
Projects and actions in supra-regional cooperation ("Manunet II")
Manunet II , which has an endowment of €500,000, aims to fund international cooperation R&D projects in the area of advanced manufacturing technologies.
The minimum requirement for projects is that at least two SMEs from two participating regions or countries, each belonging to a different country, participate in the consortium and carry out complementary activities within the project. The aim is to encourage companies in Navarre to develop their R&D projects with the support of funding partly from public aid and partly from their own funds.
Industrial doctorates (grants to hire researchers and technologists)
It is a programme that contributes to the training of researchers who will have to face complex, often interdisciplinary challenges, with demanding requirements of feasibility and quality.
Its objective is to establish a multi-annual funding scheme for the development of an adequate talent pool that takes into account the needs that exist in companies.
The essential element of this call is a strategic research project of a company, in which the doctoral student will carry out his or her research training, in collaboration with a university, and which will be the subject of a doctoral thesis. This programme has a budget of €2,200,000.
