In the last week we have learned that Renault-Nissan and Google have made acquisitions in the Software sector to improve their business.
Renault-Nissan invests in IoT
Renault-Nissan has bought Sylpheo, a French software development company to grow in connectivity.
Connected car technology will enable the group to offer new and innovative services for its customers, improve the driving experience for drivers, and increase business efficiency for business customers.
Sylpheo has a team of 40 engineers and consultants, which will bring to the organisation more expertise in software development and cloud computing.
Google buys a company specialising in conversational interfaces and a company specialising in developing software for businesses to connect with their customers.
Google has just bought Api.ai, a platform that claims to understand natural language and offers resources for programmers to use its functions to integrate intelligence into their products, both apps and devices.
Api.ai created in 2010 had previously been awarded the $8.6M in 4 rounds of investment, but being owned by Google gives it greater ability to make improvements to its product.
Apigee, the firm that specialises in developing software, or APIs, that companies use to connect with customers online, has just been bought by Google for $625M.
With this move, Google is increasing its visibility against its main competitors in the market, Amazon and Microsoft, in order to offer companies cloud services.
Google has also bought in September Urban Engines to continue improving Google Maps. This company specialises in analysing urban traffic and people's movements in large cities. These parameters could well complement the help in finding parking that the app promised to offer.
