The European Union's Innovation and Development Programme as part of its strategy to create jobs and growth.

Programme objectives:

Strengthening the EU's position in science.

Strengthening industrial leadership in innovation, which will include more investment in key technologies, and greater access to capital and support for SMEs.

Support to address Europeans' main concerns such as climate change, development of sustainable transport and mobility, new forms of affordable renewable energy, food security, or solutions to cope with an increasingly ageing population.

Eligible projects requirements:

To bring added value to the EU, responding to an existing need in the European Union.

Be of civilian, (non-military) application

Develop in transnational consortium

Adhere to the specific lines of

Research and innovation detailed in the relevant work programmes and calls.

What types of projects are funded:

Projects at all stages of the research-to-market process: research, technological development, demonstration and innovation activities.

 Beneficiaries:

Any legal entity established in any country of the European Union, of a Horizon 2020 associated state or of third countries:

Universities

Companies

Associations or groupings of undertakings

Research centres

Technology centres

Public Administrations

Type of financing:

A single rate of funding will be applied according to the type of project by reimbursement of eligible costs, including direct costs (100% for research and development projects and 70 % for innovation projects).

A single rate of 25% for indirect costs, the same for all indirect cost entities.

Loans, guarantees or equity investment through the intermediaries of its risk finance instruments.

Mode of presentation of the proposal:

Responding to the calls launched by the EC during the period 2014-2020, in the portal

(http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal)

These calls for proposals are usually open for a period of 4 months.

The specific lines of action included in the calls for proposals, to which the projects to be submitted must conform, are listed and described in the call for proposals sheet..

Steps for the preparation of the proposal:

Identify the line of action within Horizon 2020 to which the proposal idea is best suited.

Preparation of proposals: search for partners, definition and distribution of tasks, preparation of technical information in English.
