The Basque budget for public aid to boost the business fabric for 2016 will be €437.5 million.
This budget is 2.3% higher than last year and the Basque Government's Minister for Economic Development and Competitiveness, Arantxa Tapia, stressed in November that we cannot sleep, we must continue to promote the economic fabric of this country, not only the industrial but also trade, tourism and the primary sector and stressed the need to improve their technology, the level that allows each of them to be positioned among the best, promoting R&D actions and helping our companies with different tools, subsidies and lines of financing. The Vice-Ministry of Industry will see the biggest increase in its budget, with 8 million more, a total of 104 million euros.

Technology, competitiveness and innovation get the biggest budget, €144M

Within this area there are 4 grants: Hazitek, Emaitek, Elkartek and Berrikertu.

Hazitek

Hazitek is the research grant programme that will replace the former Etorgai and Gaitek. It has a 68m budget over four years, of which 30m in 2016.

Emaitek

The purpose of the aid granted under this Order is to improve and orientate the results and capacities of the Multifocalised Technology Centres and CICs towards the market, working along the entire R&D value chain.

 The budget for these grants will be €27.4M over two years, of which €19M next year.

Elkartek

ELKARTEK is an aid programme to support Collaborative Research carried out by the Research, Development and Innovation Entities integrated in the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network of the Basque Country.

This programme is endowed with 24 M of which 7.5 M will be for 2016.

Berrikertu

The incorporation of human research capital in companies and agents of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network, through non-refundable grants for the recruitment of research personnel. It has a budget of €2.2 M.

Además Continúan programas clásicos como el Gauzatu para inversiones tecnológicas, el plan «Renove» para máquina herramienta -aunque con ocho millones, uno menos al ser ya la tercera convocatoria seguida-, y los populares «Renove» para calderas o ventanas.

New Indartu programme

To support industrial investment and job creation in disadvantaged areas such as the Left Bank in Bizkaia and Oiartzualdea in Gipuzkoa.
