Doctoralia, the platform that connects patients and health professionals, leader in Spain and Latin America, has merged with its European competitor DocPlanner, to become the largest health marketplace in the world, thus achieving a presence in 25 countries and managing some 200,000 appointments per month.
Building a benchmark in the eHealth sector
Both companies have been working hard in recent years to become leaders in their respective geographies. This merger will allow them to create a large group with a strong presence in different countries.
Whereas Doctoralia is the leader in Spain and Latin America with 9 million unique users per month, The Polish DocPlanner currently has 8 million unique monthly users, 90% of them from Europe. The figures resulting from the merger speak for themselves: between them, the two companies will have 17 million unique monthly users and customers in 20 different markets, serve 3 million registered users and have the largest database of healthcare professionals in the world - 5 million specialists.
The merger comes after Docplanner received a $20M round in order to grow.
DocPlanner has just received a $20M round of funding to increase its global presence and strengthen its position in key markets, including Spain and Latin America, where Doctoralia is a leader.
The financing round was led by Target Group, with the participation of private equity funds ENERN Investments and EBRD.
Previously, Docplanner had already received several rounds of funding, most recently last year for $10M.
Docplanner had already bought a Turkish competitor, Eniyihekim, in 2014 and the merger with Docotoralia is the first avenue for growth after the new round of funding, but further moves are not ruled out.
According to Docplanner's CEO, "We have the ambition to be the world's leading healthcare platform. Our focus now is to build a strong global presence, reinforcing positions in key markets (such as Poland, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Latin America) and adding 4-5 high-growth markets, either by acquisitions or organically.
