Programme for the Improvement of the Competitiveness of SMEs in the European Union
Programme objectives:
Improve the competitiveness and sustainability of Union enterprises, in particular in the tourism sector.
Promote entrepreneurship (business creation, new entrepreneurs, prioritising young people and women).
Improve SMEs' access to finance, through two instruments (€1.4bn envelope):
Aid modalities:
Venture capital fund (equity loans). Equity facility to invest in SMEs in their expansion phase.
Fund to provide loan guarantees to SMEs. Up to €150,000 for any type of SME.
Improving access to markets within the EU and globally: support services will be provided to growth-oriented companies through the Enterprise Europe Network and the SME Information Centre on Intellectual Property Rights in China.
Main beneficiaries:
Existing companies (especially SMEs): facilitating their access to financing instruments that allow them to develop, consolidate and grow their businesses.
Prospective entrepreneurs (including young entrepreneurs): to provide them with advice on setting up their own business.
Local, regional and national authorities: equipping them with the tools to carry out effective policy reforms (statistics, best practices and financial support,...).
Budget:
2.3 billion euros between 2014-2020, of which approximately €1.4 billion will go to facilitating access to finance.
