VMware completed a deal to buy cloud-native platform provider Pivotal Software, for which it paid $2.7 billion.
VMware provides virtualisation software available for X86 compatible computers. This software includes VMware Workstation, and the free VMware Server and VMware Player. VMware's software can run on Windows, Linux, and the macOS platform running on Intel processors, under the name VMware Fusion.
Pivotal is also a US multinational software and services company based in San Francisco that provided consulting and cloud platform hosting services.
Pivotal's product offering will be key to extending VMware Tanzu's portfolio of products and services. In addition, both companies are poised to be the Kubernetes enabler, with a deep understanding of both operators and developers.

Digital Map Products (DMP) was created to provide location intelligence and decision making as an easy-to-deploy technology, integrating it into the daily workflow. Its technology benefits more than half of the US population every day. Although in 2019, DMP was acquired by LightBox.
LightBox is a leading provider of due diligence, risk management, location intelligence, marketing and workflow solutions that enable decision making. The company is creating new solutions to facilitate real estate transparency, efficiency and insight.
