The Multiannual Financial Framework has proposed the programme Digital Europe 2021-2027, a programme focused on building the EU's strategic digital capabilities and facilitating the wide deployment of digital technologies.
The digital transition is key to Europe's future prosperity and resilience. As part of the EU's next long-term budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework, the Commission has proposed the Europe Digitall 2021-2027 programmethe EU's programme to accelerate the recovery and boost Europe's digital transformation. With a budget of €8.2 billion (€9.2 billion at current prices).
The programme will boost investments in supercomputing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced digital skills and ensuring the broad use of digital technologies across the economy and society, including through digital innovation centres.
Objective of the Digital Europe Programme 2021-2027
It aims to improve Europe's competitiveness in the global digital economy, achieve technological sovereignty and facilitate the wide deployment of digital technologies. This will be done through the deployment and capacity building of new digital technologies to support digital transformation to ensure high quality public services that benefit Europe's citizens, businesses and public administrations.
