SaaS, short for Software as a Service, is a software distribution model in which a provider hosts both the company's software and its data and makes them available via the Internet. This implies that the software used by the company is not present in the company itself, but that the provider takes care of hosting it in the cloud, as well as its updates and maintenance.  

In this post, we will analyse one of the most relevant M&A operations carried out in the sector. This is the recent acquisition of Vlocity by Salesforceone of the leading companies in the sector. This purchase took place on 25 February 2020 and was valued at USD 1.33 billion.

Salesforce is an American software company based in San Francisco, California. It offers a customer relationship management (CRM) service and also sells a complementary set of business applications focused on customer service, marketing automation, analytics and application development.
