Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly popular, due in part to its wide range of potential uses in most business sectors. One of the fastest growing is in the medical and healthcare sectors. sector of the health in general; more and more technology companies are seeing a seam in a market that is growing all the time, where automation is low and budgets are high.

In Spain, one of the exponents of this trend is Psious.

Psious is a Catalan company that was founded in 2013 and offers a virtual reality software entirely dedicated to the field of psychology. It aims to bring value to mental health treatment by providing a virtual reality platform with direct functionality for use in clinical practices.

Artificial intelligence in healthcare attracts new rounds

This platform provides animated environments that help to dynamise the sessions; it includes a wide variety of scenarios that help to treat different disorders such as anxiety, fears or phobias. In addition, it is also able to learn from users and generate environments that improve attention and relaxation treatments.

However, what sets this company apart is its ability to offer services in a simple way using a mobile phone and virtual reality glasses, without the need for a large installation, thus reducing the fixed cost.

In early May, the firm was able to raise an €8m equity financing round from venture capital funds Asabys Partners and Caixa Capital, which is expected to increase product variability, the adoption of software enhancements and an expansion to clinics across the state.

Using virtual reality technology, it is able to improve precision and, thanks to artificial intelligence, it helps surgeons to analyse the patient's situation in real time and anticipate possible problems in operations.

This company in mid-February raised $10M to improve the accuracy of its virtual reality system and to scale the sale of the system nationally.
