Alpify has closed a €1M round with the aim of expanding its market, evolving its app with new features and growing in the international market. The round has been led by the RACC -specialist in personal, family, mechanical, emergency health and home care services- and Caixa Capital Risc, the Inspirit Group and other private investors have also participated.
About Alpify
Alpify is an app created in 2012 to complement the functions of the 112 Emergency Centres, helping to locate people in emergency situations. The app currently has more than 1.5 million registered users and has become the most widely used device in emergency situations.
Alpify has already received a small round of €400,000 in 2014 led by Caixa Capital Riks and in which several business angels participated.
Alpify is currently present in Spain and Andorra. The new round will facilitate entry into Latin America.
Expanding its business model
As Alpify is already a leader in its sector in Spain, it has set out to enter new market segments. Currently, it has already included new functions designed for the most vulnerable groups in the family: children and the elderly. In addition, it has set up an innovation centre for urban safety that is experimenting with new functionalities to improve safety in cities.
The new round will help them to advance in the fields of personal and family security. In the words of Alpify's CEO, "In the personal and family security sector there is a lot of ground to cover and we don't want to miss out on the opportunity to lead this market".
Investment rounds in Spanish geolocation apps
Although the geolocation market in Spain is still in its infancy, we have already detected several companies in the sector that have made investment rounds.
In September 2016, Wabe for example closed a €900,000 round. Wave is a free app that facilitates the process of meeting friends face-to-face through a private geolocation service.
Another young company Badi App, Badi App is the first mobile app that allows users to discover rooms near them or rent out unused ones.
