Boosting renewable energy: Cerberus and Repsol
Despite the fact that Spain has slowed down investment in renewables due to the energy reform, there is still movement in the sector. This week, Cerberus, one of the world's largest venture capital firms, has backed a Spanish company, Renovalia Energy. In addition, Repsol has announced the finalists of its incubation programme.

Cerberus finalises purchase of Renovalia Energy

Cerberus, the American private equity firm, which operates worldwide, has purchased Renovalia Energythe renewables division of the company owned by the Ortega family, former owners of Forlasa cheeses. 

Renovalia Energy is present in Spain, Hungary, Romania, Mexico and Chile and has an installed renewable generation capacity of 456.16 MW.

Fundación Repsol announces the 15 projects selected for its 4th call.

The Foundation Repsol has announced the 15 finalist energy projects for its 4th Entrepreneurs Fund call.

On 10 September, the projects and ideas which, from among the 15 finalists, will be incubated by the Entrepreneurs Fund, will be announced, and the fifth call will be opened, with a deadline of 15 November.

Selected projects will receive up to €288,000 in funding for a maximum of two years, and will also receive €24,000 for one year to consolidate their maturity. 

Also, as a novelty in this edition, the projects have participated in a two-month pre-incubation process in which the selected proposals have been advised by experts and have received specific training in project planning, communication and preparation of a presentation for investors.

Eficonsumption: system hardware-software for optimising electricity consumption

R3Fiber: recycling of wind turbine blades

WALL-B: separation of black plastics for energy recovery from industrial waste 

Solar salts: new salt formulations for energy storage in solar thermal power plants

Xerolutions: nanoporous organic materials optimised for supercapacitors
