What is H2020?
Horizon 2020, the European Commission's (EC) new framework programme aimed at promoting research and innovation in the EU, boosting growth and jobs, improving the quality of life of citizens and strengthening the strategic competitiveness of businesses.
Grants under Horizon 2020 will be non-repayable, and will be obtained on a competitive basis in projects developed in cooperation with member countries, with an estimated 70 billion euros up to 2020.
Scope of calls in Bioeconomy
The calls foreseen in the 2014 -2015 work programme for this challenge focus on:
Sustainable food security
Sustainable food production systems
Safe food and healthy diets and sustainable consumption
Global drivers of food security
Application deadline: from 25/07/2014 to 11/06/2015, at 5 pm
Budget: EUR 500,000.
2. Blue growth:
Unlocking the potential of seas and oceans
Sustainability in exploiting the diversity of marine life
New challenges for the coast
Ocean observing technologies / systems
Horizontal aspects, socio-economic science, innovation, societal engagement and ocean governance through the blue growth focus area
Until 12/03/2014 for phase 1 and 26/06/2014 for phase 2, both at 17h.
Budget: 128,000,000 euros.
3. Innovative, sustainable and inclusive bioeconomy
Sustainable agriculture and forestry
Sustainable and competitive bio-industries
Horizontal actions covering all activities
From 25/07/2014 until 03/02/2015 for stage 1 and until 11/06/2015 for stage 2.
Budget: €15 M
