Telecoms step up investment through venture capital funds

Corporate venture capital investment by telecoms is at its highest level in the last 10 years, having invested $ 1.64 billion across 145 deals since the beginning of 2012.

 

34% more annual money invested in 2012

Según datos de cbinsights, la inversión de los vehículos de venture capital de las «telecos» crecieron en el año 2012 un 34% con base anual. El número de operaciones creció algo menos un 27% lo que significa que el tamaño medio por operación fue algo superior. La actividad de los venture capital corporativos en el resto de sectores fue inferior (7% de incremento en volumen y 23% en número de operaciones) lo que refleja la intensidad de la actividad en el sector «teleco».

USA, Germany and France lead the ranking of the most active countries

A pesar de que la inversión de los CVC de las telecos está geográficamente muy dispersa, casi la mitad de las operaciones que se han realizado desde el 2008 han recaído sobre startups norteamericanas. Alemania capturó más del 12% con 25 participaciones casi todas ellas desde «Deutche Telekom’s T-Venture». Francia acaparó el 7% de las operaciones.
