Anaconda Biomed is a Spanish start-up, based in Barcelona<\/a>which is developing a new-generation catheter to efficiently treat stroke.<\/p>\n

Recently, it has sold<\/a> part of its shareholding for \u20ac20m.<\/p>\n

This makes the deal the second largest in the health sciences sector so far this year.<\/p>\n

Medical technology is so important, and so much in the news, that it continues to attract private capital.<\/p>\n

Both the sector and its movements in corporate finance give a good account of this.<\/p>\n

<\/span>WHO IS ANACONDA BIOMED?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Anaconda Biomed is one of the world's most innovative medical technology companies<\/strong>founded in 2015.<\/p>\n

It is currently developing ANCD BRAIN<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It is a novel system of mechanical thrombectomy with catheter <\/em>used to treat acute ischemic stroke, also known as acute ischemic stroke, also known as acute ischemic stroke. Ictus<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This catheter allows the thrombus causing it to be captured and aspirated.<\/p>\n

The system is introduced into the artery, and is able to suspend blood flow and capture the thrombus without leaving any remnants in the patient's circulation.<\/p>\n

<\/span>SECOND MOST IMPORTANT OPERATION<\/span><\/h2>\n

At the beginning of December, sold part of its shares in the company<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It has done so in a round<\/a> amounting to 20M\u20ac<\/strong>making it the second largest deal in the healthcare sector in 2019.<\/p>\n

The first was the \u20ac72m invested last June in Sanifit Therapeutics.<\/p>\n

But as far as the sale that is the subject of this post is concerned, all the investors who had already participated in the previous sale have participated.<\/p>\n

Some of them are, for example, Ysios Capital, Banco Sabadell, Innogest, and Omega Funds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Since its launch, Anaconda Biomed has already raised \u20ac40 million.<\/p>\n

<\/span>PRODUCT VALIDATION IN EUROPE AND THE U.S.A.<\/span><\/h2>\n

The \u20ac20 million will be used by the firm for a clinical study to validate its product in both the European Medicines Agency<\/a> (EMA), as in the American Food Drug Administration<\/em><\/a> (FDA).<\/p>\n

In total, 125 patients will be recruited, with results expected by the end of the third quarter of next year.<\/p>\n

But it's not all plain sailing for the company.<\/p>\n

The entry into force of the new medical device regulation in Europe has forced them to change their strategy: more patients in clinical trials and more investment are needed.<\/p>\n

<\/span>MARKET LAUNCH IN 2021<\/span><\/h2>\n

If approved, the new release date is early 2021.<\/p>\n

At this point, it is worth noting that in the medical device market, it is common for companies to take the first steps towards commercialisation, followed by licensing or purchase agreements.<\/p>\n

Among the multinationals most interested in this medical area are Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson and Stryker, among others.<\/p>\n

<\/span>THROMBECTOMIES AND STROKES<\/span><\/h2>\n

The mechanical thrombectomy market accounted for $720M in revenues in the US last year.<\/p>\n

Although it should be taken into account that it is a sector that has been indicated since 2015, and previously it was not included in the medical guidelines.<\/p>\n

Psious<\/a> develops virtual reality platform designed to add value to mental health treatment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It uses hyper-realistic virtual environments to treat anxiety disorders through virtual exposure therapy.<\/p>\n

In this way, professionals can improve mental health therapies.<\/p>\n

Recently, the company has sold part of its shareholding for 8M\u20ac<\/strong> for their growth.<\/p>\n

<\/span>TAAP WATER<\/span><\/h3>\n

Taap Water<\/a> provides affordable, clean and sustainable water solutions straight from the tap at home.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The company is based in London, but also operates in Spain.<\/p>\n

It has a team of experienced water and technology experts.<\/p>\n
