<\/span>Spanish venture capital is in vogue. A few days ago we learned of the funds selected in the 8th Fondico call and several firms have announced the imminent launch of new funds. Among them we have detected funds focused on technology, healthcare and energy.<\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n

<\/span>Arcano launches its first fund to invest in technology companies with growth potential<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n

Arcano Asset Management<\/strong>the leading alternative asset management firm in Spain with more than 3.5 billion euros in assets, has launched \u00a0Arcano Ventures<\/strong>which is scheduled to close for the first time on 31 May 2017 for 50% of the total planned amount (\u20ac180M).<\/span><\/p>\n

Arcano plans to invest in technology companies with high growth potential throughout the value chain, mainly specialising in new technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence and new collaborative economy models. The fund will focus on the United States, and more specifically on Silicon Valley, where most companies with this profile are concentrated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Arcano will act hand in hand with Urizen Ventures, an American investment firm based in Silicon Valley and with a track record of having invested with the main top funds in Silicon Valley. In this way, Arcano enters directly into Venture Capital with first class investors and entrepreneurs, with experience and a successful track record in Silicon Valley.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Alta life science: new Spanish-focused fund for companies in the life sciences field<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n

Alta Partners<\/a><\/span>is a benchmark in life sciences venture capital, founded in 1996. It is now coming to Spain through Altamar, an independent financial services group chaired by Claudio Aguirre. Alta has created Alta Life Sciences Spain I (Alta LS), a leading venture capital investment company that aims to raise more than \u20ac175M and to be the largest life sciences investment vehicle created in Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Suma Capital: energy efficiency fund<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n

The Barcelona-based venture capital firm Suma Capital<\/a><\/span> is preparing its second energy efficiency and circular economy fund, which will have \u20ac100m, up from \u20ac20m in the previous such vehicle in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company is launching its second green fund after allocating 45 million euros to 11 energy saving projects, replacing fossil fuels with renewables and using waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Funds selected in the 8th Fondico call for proposals<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n

Axis<\/a>,<\/span> the Venture Capital company of the ICO Group, has resolved the eighth call for FOND-ICO Global with the selection of 8 funds in which it will invest more than 160 million euros, to be distributed as follows: 100 million will go to the two Capital Expansion funds, 47.5 million to the three Venture Capital funds and 13.1 million for the 3 incubation\/technology transfer funds.
