The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism is aware of the benefits of implementing smart cities both for citizens and for the development of ICTs and has decided to launch the National Smart Cities Plan, implementing new measures that will involve the mobilisation of a volume of resources close to \u20ac153M. The new Plan reinforces the industrial vocation of these policies and aims to increase the contribution of the industrial sector involved in these projects to GDP, boosting the growth of this industrial sub-sector, the size of its companies and its export capacity.<\/span><\/address>\n

Objectives of the plan: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The plan aims to achieve these 5 objectives:<\/span><\/p>\n

Facilitating cities in the transformation process towards a smart city.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carry out projects demonstrating the efficiency of ICTs in reducing costs, improving citizen satisfaction and creating new business models.<\/span><\/p>\n

Development of the ICT industry applied to smart cities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Communication and dissemination of the national smart cities plan<\/span><\/p>\n

Carrying out cross-cutting actions of the plan<\/span><\/p>\n

Agency participating in the plan<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

Red.es<\/a>, Segittur<\/a><\/span>, IDAE<\/a>,<\/span> SETSI, EOI and AENOR working groups.<\/span><\/p>\n

Public aid to promote the plan <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Among the aid that forms part of the plan, it is important to highlight the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

Aid for the development and specialisation of smart cities:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

RED.ES will launch a call for projects which, due to their originality of approach, systematise new approaches or provide them with sufficient dimension to favour a rapid industrial development.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the smart cities plan, the \u20ac44M call for proposals will be published in the second half of 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aid for the development of new business models based on efficiency improvements brought about by the use of technology.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The aim of these grants is to promote the emergence and dissemination of business models that make it possible to quantify and maximise the savings derived from the intelligent use of technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Setsi and Red.es will launch a \u20ac40M call for proposals in March 2016, providing loans on advantageous terms for projects with a business model that meets the requirements set out in the National Smart Cities Plan. The selected projects must be able to finance themselves entirely within the loan repayment period.<\/span><\/p>\n

R&D support for smart cities<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Grants will also be published for companies to promote innovative ICT developments that can be implemented in smart cities and tourist destinations. These grants will be developed within the framework of the AEESD (SETSI) and will be published in September 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n
