2014 has been a good year for the ICT sector, with worldwide investments reaching the highest levels since the technology bubble of 2000.<\/span><\/address>\n

A good third quarter<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

According to data from 451 Research,<\/a><\/span> \u00a0technology research and consultancy company, the M&A transactions<\/a> and mergers and acquisitions<\/a><\/strong> in the tics sector reached a value of $100,000 M in the last quarter of 2014. This figure is 25% more than the total recorded in the third quarter of 2013, and double the same period in 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

Major operations in 2014<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2014, several transactions have been closed for quite a large amount. The largest transaction was the purchase of WhatsApp <\/span>by Facebook<\/a><\/span> $19.000M.<\/span><\/p>\n

Facebook has also made another major purchase this year, acquiring Oculus VR <\/span>for $2,300M.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another major purchase was made by Apple<\/a><\/span>The purchase of Beats by Apple is the largest purchase Apple has ever made, none of which has ever been more than $1 billion,\" says Diego Gutierrez of Abra-INVEST.<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Another major operation has been the purchase of Nets<\/a> <\/span>by Google<\/a><\/span> for $3.200M, a company that makes home devices such as thermostats and smoke alarms. \"With this acquisition, which is Google's second largest since it bought Motorola in 2012, the company is taking another step in its pursuit of business opportunities beyond the Internet,\" says Diego Gutierrez.<\/span><\/p>\n
