A multitude of companies have emerged that have developed core technology or vertical applications that have found strong support from the <strong>venture capital.<\/strong><\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address>\u00a0<\/address>\n<address><!--more--><\/address>\n<h6><b>Since 2008 523 deals with more than $4.9B of investment<\/b><\/h6>\n<p>Investment in big data-related companies continues to trend upwards. The year 2012 saw an increase of almost 20% in the number of deals and almost 7% in the total amount invested despite several large deals in 2011 such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osisoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oslsoft<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mu-sigma.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mu Sigma<\/a> and Opera Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>\"Big data is being applied in various sectors from human resources to the health sector. A sign that it still has a long way to go is that 24% of the operations that are invested are in seed stage companies and 26% in series B rounds\" analyses Diego Gutierrez, a specialist in alternative financing at <a href=\"https:\/\/techma.bakertilly.es\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Abra Invest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h6><b>Big data operations<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cloudera.com\/content\/cloudera\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cloudera<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palantir.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Palantir<\/a>have been the two largest deals in the big data venture capital landscape. Both have been victims of frequent IPO rumours.
