{"id":42014,"date":"2013-05-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-16T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/techma.bakertilly.es\/las-corporaciones-del-sector-educativo-invierten-1-100mm-en-empresas-tecnologicas\/"},"modified":"2025-03-12T11:23:33","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T10:23:33","slug":"las-corporaciones-del-sector-educativo-invierten-1-100mm-en-empresas-tecnologicas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/techma.bakertilly.es\/en\/las-corporaciones-del-sector-educativo-invierten-1-100mm-en-empresas-tecnologicas\/","title":{"rendered":"Education sector corporations invest 1,100MM$ in technology companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to a report by cbinsights,\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pearson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pearson<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0leads the list of education sector companies in acquiring and investing in technology companies, followed by\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.blackboard.com\/404.aspx?aspxerrorpath=\/international\/emea\/overview.aspx&amp;errorcode=404\">Blackboard<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0privately owned and the Group\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.macmillan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Macmillan<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0<strong>$ 1.1B\u00a0<\/strong>in Tech Ed venture capital funding in 2012, we wanted to take a closer look at which of the largest education companies, both listed and private, have been most active in acquiring and investing in private and start-up companies in Tech Ed.<\/p>\n<p>Based on M&amp;A activity and financial data since 2010, the London-based publisher,\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pearson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pearson<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0tops the list with 15 <a href=\"https:\/\/techma.bakertilly.es\/en\/merger-and-acquisition-m-a\/\" target=\"_blank\">mergers and acquisitions<\/a> or investments in Ed Tech companies.\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.blackboard.com\/404.aspx?aspxerrorpath=\/international\/emea\/overview.aspx&amp;errorcode=404\">Blackboard<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. The top 3 is completed by the\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.macmillan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Macmillan Group<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0which acquires and invests in Ed Tech companies through two separate arms - Macmillan New Ventures and Macmillan Education Digital. Six of the 10 are listed education companies as can be seen below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Private equity funds are also present in the sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\"In addition to these large corporations, other private equity funds are also present in the sector.
